The Wandering Piper
A bagpipe rock opera
The "maybe true" story of a noble in disguise, who became a viral sensation long before the days of TikTok and Instagram.
From England, to Scotland, to Ireland, to America, and back - he traveled thousands of miles, raising money for local charities. Was he a gentleman, or a conman?
I am currently in the book and lyrics stage of writing this musical. Be sure to follow on our socials!
About the Author
By day, Topher Cronin navigates the corporate world; by night, he is a cornerstone of the Savannah, Georgia theater community. Since arriving in the Hostess City in 2000 to study at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), Topher has spent over two decades shaping the local stage as an actor, director, musical director, and producer.
Topher’s passion for performance is matched only by his love for local history. While building his collection of Savannah artifacts, he discovered a captivating piece of the past: an 1834 letter addressed to the Mayor, requesting his attendance at a performance at the Court House. The letter was signed with a cryptic flourish:
"Your most Obliged and Obedient Servant, The Wandering Piper."
What began as a curious find has evolved into a deep historical immersion. Topher is currently dedicated to unearthing the life of the Piper, weaving together a rich tapestry of 19th-century culture and music, and telling his story through the lens of a modern rock musical with an anticipated completion in early 2027.
